What’s Gender-Affirming Voice Therapy?

Most people have felt uncomfortable with their voice at one time or another. For some people, this can happen because their outward physical voice doesn’t align with their inner voice or gender identity. This can create a disconnect in social life, employment, and overall happiness and safety.

In Gender Affirming Voice Therapy, a client works with a licensed speech therapist to develop a voice that reflects their true self. Therapy consists of a formal evaluation, weekly one-on-one sessions, home practice, and in some cases, group work.

More and more insurance companies are understanding the necessity of gender-affirming care, but sometimes a client runs into a funding roadblock. Moving Mountains Foundation makes sure no transgender Montanan gets turned away from gender-affirming voice therapy for lack of funds.
